What we collect, and what we don't.

The short version: we don't sell your data, we don't track you across apps or websites, and there's no advertising inside the app. What we collect is what the app needs to work — and the only messages we send you are the ones you've asked for.
What we collect
- Your account: an identifier, the handle and the display name you pick (both public), and — if you sign in with Google or with an email address — the address tied to it. With Sign in with Apple we don't even ask for your email: the identifier Apple gives us is enough.
- What you watch: shows, films, episodes marked as seen, ratings, watchlist, watch dates, and where you watched something when you tell us. This is the whole point of the app.
- What you write: reviews, comments, the GIFs you attach, your bio, the names you give your own lists, a profile picture if you upload one, and the notes you add when you report something.
- What you search for in the GIF picker: the words go to Klipy so it can find the GIF. See Where the data lives below.
- Who you follow and the likes you give.
- The phone we send notifications to: the code Apple gives us to reach it (it doesn't identify you outside Showries), plus your app language and time zone, so a notification arrives at 9 in your morning and in your language. It disappears when you turn notifications off or delete your account.
- How the app behaves on your device: crash reports and performance data from Apple's own diagnostics, plus a note when the app opens for the first time in a day and when the interface freezes for more than a couple of seconds — how long it froze and which operation was running. Alongside these we store your app version, build number, iOS version and device model (for example "iPhone17,3"). This is tied to your account, because that's what lets us tell one person hitting a bug ten times from ten people hitting it once. It contains nothing you write and nothing you watch. We keep it for six months, then it deletes itself.
With these we also count how many people open the app and whether they come back — aggregate numbers, not profiles — and we use what you watch to personalise what the app suggests: Up Next, picks from your own titles, and the alert when a title you've seen wins something.
What we don't do
- No advertising inside the app, and no advertising SDKs.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites. We don't use the IDFA.
- We don't sell or share your data with anyone.
- We don't read your contacts or your photos — except the one you choose as your profile picture. We don't use location either: the app never asks for the permission and there isn't a line of code that reads it. We do know the time zone and language set on your phone, because that's what gets a notification to you at the right hour and in the right words.
Notifications
There are two kinds, and they're separate on purpose.
- Releases: an episode of a show you follow, a film from your watchlist. These are scheduled on your phone from your own library — no server involved — and they follow the switches in Settings → Notifications.
- Announcements: Oscar nominations, international awards, special events, Showries news. These come from our server, they're off unless you say yes, and you can turn them off any time in Settings → Announcements. A few times a year, never more.
Where the data lives
Data is hosted on Supabase (servers in the European Union). Beyond that:
- TMDB for film and TV metadata: your requests pass through our server, so TMDB sees us, not you.
- Klipy for GIFs: we pass the words you type and a per-person code that is not your account — a fingerprint computed with a secret we keep, which Klipy can't trace back to you. It's there so you don't get shown the same GIFs forever.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google — and only to the extent that it sees you signing in to Showries.
- Apple, to deliver notifications to your phone.
- Instagram and TikTok, only when you tap share, and only the image you're looking at in the preview.
What's public and what isn't
Your library isn't browsable by anyone else, and the rating itself isn't shown. What reaches your followers is the fact that you watched, rated or added something — along with your handle, profile picture, reviews and comments. Set your profile to private and only followers you approve see any of it.
Taking everything with you
Settings → Export my data gives you a JSON file with your library, progress, ratings, reviews, comments and follows.
Deleting everything
You can delete your account from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. Library, watched episodes, ratings, reviews, comments and photos all go, normally within minutes. If some piece doesn't go on the first attempt we're told about it and clear it by hand within a few days — no copies stay with us either way.
This website
If you join the waiting list we store your email address, the language you were reading in, and where you arrived from. We use it for two messages and nothing else: one straight away, confirming you're on the list, and one when it's your turn to be invited. You can ask us to remove it at any time — just reply to either email, or write to the address below. We delete the whole list once the app is out.
Children
Showries isn't intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Cosa raccogliamo, e cosa no.

In breve: non vendiamo i tuoi dati, non ti tracciamo fra app o siti, e dentro l'app non c'è pubblicità. Quello che raccogliamo serve a far funzionare l'app — e gli unici messaggi che ti mandiamo sono quelli che hai chiesto tu.
Cosa raccogliamo
- Il tuo account: un identificativo, il nick e il nome visualizzato che scegli (entrambi pubblici) e — se accedi con Google o con un'email — l'indirizzo associato. Con Apple non chiediamo nemmeno l'email: ci basta l'identificativo che Apple ci dà.
- Quello che guardi: serie, film, episodi visti, voti, watchlist, date di visione e, quando ce lo dici, dove l'hai guardato. È il cuore dell'app.
- Quello che scrivi: recensioni, commenti, le GIF che alleghi, la bio, i nomi che dai alle tue liste, la foto profilo se ne carichi una e le note che aggiungi quando segnali qualcosa.
- Quello che cerchi nel selettore delle GIF: il testo va a Klipy perché trovi la GIF. Vedi Dove stanno i dati più sotto.
- Chi segui e i "mi piace" che metti.
- Il telefono a cui mandare le notifiche: il codice che ci dà Apple per raggiungerlo (non ti identifica fuori da Showries), più la lingua dell'app e il fuso orario, così l'avviso arriva alle 9 tue e nella tua lingua. Sparisce quando spegni le notifiche o cancelli l'account.
- Come si comporta l'app sul tuo telefono: i rapporti di crash e le misure di prestazione che fornisce Apple stessa, più una riga quando apri l'app la prima volta in giornata e quando l'interfaccia resta bloccata per più di un paio di secondi — quanto è durato e quale operazione era in corso. Insieme a questi conserviamo la versione dell'app, il numero di build, la versione di iOS e il modello del dispositivo (per esempio "iPhone17,3"). È legato al tuo account, perché è ciò che permette di distinguere una persona che incontra un problema dieci volte da dieci persone che lo incontrano una volta. Non contiene niente di quello che scrivi né di quello che guardi. Lo teniamo sei mesi, poi si cancella da solo.
Con questi contiamo anche quante persone aprono l'app e se tornano — numeri aggregati, non profili — e usiamo quello che guardi per personalizzare ciò che l'app ti propone: l'Up Next, i suggerimenti dai tuoi titoli, l'avviso quando vince un titolo che hai visto.
Cosa NON facciamo
- Dentro l'app non c'è pubblicità, e non c'è nessun SDK pubblicitario.
- Non ti tracciamo su altre app o altri siti. Non usiamo l'IDFA.
- Non vendiamo né cediamo i tuoi dati a nessuno.
- Non leggiamo la rubrica né le foto — tranne quella che scegli tu come immagine del profilo. Non usiamo nemmeno la localizzazione: l'app non chiede il permesso e non c'è una riga di codice che la legga. Sappiamo il fuso orario e la lingua impostati sul telefono, perché servono a mandarti la notifica all'ora e nelle parole giuste.
Notifiche
Sono di due tipi, e restano separate di proposito.
- Uscite: un episodio di una serie che segui, un film della tua watchlist. Si programmano sul tuo telefono a partire dalla tua libreria — nessun server di mezzo — e seguono gli interruttori in Impostazioni → Notifiche.
- Annunci: nomination agli Oscar, premi internazionali, eventi speciali, novità di Showries. Questi partono dal nostro server, sono spenti finché non dici di sì e puoi spegnerli quando vuoi da Impostazioni → Annunci. Qualche volta l'anno, mai più di così.
Dove stanno i dati
I dati sono ospitati su Supabase (server nell'Unione Europea). Oltre a quello:
- TMDB per le informazioni su film e serie: le richieste passano dal nostro server, quindi TMDB vede noi, non te.
- Klipy per le GIF: gli passiamo il testo che cerchi e un codice per persona che non è il tuo account — un'impronta calcolata con un segreto che teniamo noi, da cui Klipy non può risalire a te. Serve a non farti rivedere sempre le stesse GIF.
- Google, solo se scegli l'accesso con Google — e solo nella misura in cui vede che stai accedendo a Showries.
- Apple, per consegnare le notifiche al tuo telefono.
- Instagram e TikTok, solo quando sei tu a toccare «condividi», e solo l'immagine che stai vedendo in anteprima.
Cosa è pubblico e cosa no
La tua libreria non è sfogliabile dagli altri, e il voto in sé non si vede. Quello che arriva ai tuoi follower è il fatto che hai visto, votato o messo in lista un titolo — insieme al nick, alla foto profilo, alle recensioni e ai commenti. Se metti il profilo su privato, tutto questo lo vedono solo i follower che accetti.
Portare via tutto
Impostazioni → Esporta i miei dati: un file JSON con libreria, progressi, voti, recensioni, commenti e follow.
Cancellare tutto
Puoi eliminare il tuo account dall'app: Impostazioni → Elimina account. Spariscono libreria, episodi visti, voti, recensioni, commenti e foto, di norma nel giro di pochi minuti. Se qualche pezzo non riesce al primo colpo ce ne accorgiamo e lo ripuliamo a mano entro pochi giorni: in nessun caso restano copie a noi.
Il sito
Se ti iscrivi alla lista d'attesa conserviamo il tuo indirizzo email, la lingua in cui stavi leggendo e da dove sei arrivato. Lo usiamo per due messaggi e nient'altro: uno subito, che conferma che sei in lista, e uno quando tocca a te ricevere l'invito. Puoi chiederci di toglierlo quando vuoi — basta rispondere a una delle due mail, o scrivere all'indirizzo qui sotto. La lista la cancelliamo del tutto appena l'app è uscita.
Minori
Showries non è pensata per chi ha meno di 13 anni e non raccogliamo consapevolmente i loro dati.
